Family Ministries Calendar

May 24 (4pm)- May 27 (10am)

$100/scholarships are available

We have booked the coolest treehouse style lodge at Sundance! We would love for families to join us for an early dinner on the first night if you can. Arrival is 4pm on May 24 at Sundance. Kids will make dinner. We'll eat together at 5:30. Pickup is 10am on May 27 at Sundance.

Participants “confirmands” will take over the 9am service on Sunday, June 2.

Join us for a retreat-style confirmation experience. We will experience lots of learning, reflecting and pondering. We'll also have lots of great food, games and time outdoors!

Confirmation is a great opportunity for middle and high school students to:

  • get curious and ask great questions

  • learn the story of Jesus and what he was up to in the world

  • connect to the major themes and story arcs of the Bible

  • experience the rituals and traditions of the Christian calendar

  • become familiar with the historical context of Christianity and the Methodist Church

  • compare and contrast Christianity with other major world religions

  • connect to God in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them as individuals and as a part of a collaborative faith

The registration fee is $100 however, financial aid is always available. Please give me a call or shoot me an email if the fee is cost prohibitive. Katie Richards programs@parkcitychurch.org 828-719-5050.

July 19-28 (application closes March 15)

Join us for another unforgettable trip to unknown destinations. Our theme this year is SUSTAINABILITY and ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE.

Joyride is not a mission trip but, it is a trip with a mission. We believe the old saying that, ‘knowledge is power’. Our kids are hungry to make sense of the world around them and to believe they have what it takes to build a better future. While we learn, serve and explore, students develop valuable skills to help them navigate an uncertain world with joy and grounding.

In the months before the trip, we will meet several times to develop our knowledge of our theme Sustainability and Environmental Justice. We will also work on several fundraisers together to cover the cost of the trip. On the evening of Friday, July 19 our group will meet and the trip will begin! But here’s the catch, families and students won’t know what region of the country we’ll be exploring until the night of July 19! And, after that, students and families will only discover details for the following 24 hours. Each evening students find out where they will be and what they’ll be doing for the next day. Families receive a text each morning with that information. Not only is it fun being on a mystery trip but, we find it really helps students stay in the moment. We spend the first several days of the trip exploring another region and working with non-profits that share our theme. Then, we return to our own community for the last bit of the trip. This gives us an incredible opportunity to connect with organizations doing the work right here at home. Students are able to transfer the knowledge they’ve developed and start thinking critically about how the topic impacts their own neighbors. The experience concludes with our group taking over the Sunday morning service with a presentation and call to action for the Park City community.

The application closes March 15. The trip cost will be paid for through student fundraising in the months prior to the trip.
